Ohana Films Maui - Miso the best cat!

Aloha!

Hey there, we are Kent and Darlene and we love making wedding films!

We got hitched on September 24th, 2014! (see our video below)

Darlene is a Cleveland girl and I am a Chicago boy. In fact Chicago is where we met and fell in love. Awwwww! One day Darlene walked into our apartment on a miserable winter day and said "We are moving to Hawaii." I could tell she was not kidding so I said "OK" and the next thing we knew we were living on Maui.

We love to make wedding films! We are hopeless romantics and suckers for love. It's hard work but we get to meet so many incredible people from all over the world and create something truly special for them. Plus, working in some of the most beautiful spots in Hawaii is a pretty nice job perk.

We approach every wedding video with a filmmaker's sensibility and treat each film as a work of art. Capturing genuine moments, both big and small, is very important to us. We are not going to ask you to fake any moments or perform in any way. Forget we are there and enjoy your special day! One of the comments we hear all the time from our couples is that we were able to capture all the moments they would have otherwise missed and how grateful they are for that. This always puts a big smile on our faces.

Some important Kent & Darlene facts: We rescued our awesome cat, Miso, from the beach and we take A LOT of photos of her. Darlene studied visual communications in college and later went to culinary school. Kent went to film school, concentrating on cinematography. We watch a lot of documentaries. We love snorkeling, surfing, paddleboarding, hiking and eating pizza. We love antiques and things from the past, especially Midcentury Modern items. (As I'm typing this Darlene is literally taking more photos of Miso)

Aloha :)

What do you do when you are a wedding filmmaker and it's time for your own wedding? There was no way we weren't going to have our own wedding filmed but we also wanted to be involved in the process. The solution was simple, have friends in the industry do the filming so we could do our own edit. Our pals Ryota and Yukio from Driftwood Films were nice enough to film for us and we are forever grateful. It was SO WEIRD to edit our own wedding film but also a lot of fun! We spent several days sitting together in front of the computer working on the edit. This isn't the most efficient way to edit video but we sure enjoyed reliving our wedding together. At the last second we decided to film all of the amazing polaroids our guests took at the wedding. It ending up being such a charming way to end the film :)

Oh yeah, we also made a second wedding video for fun. If we got married in 1992, it might have looked like this!
